The Commission on Higher Education encouraged student leaders frompublicand private universities in Thailand to attend The 13th AsiaPacificStudent Services Association International Conference 2012, on thetopic:“Global Citizenship: Challenges, Opportunities and Responses.”Theconference was held on July 5-8, 2012 at De La Salla University,Manila,Philippines, and was organized by the Institute of Student Affairs (ISA)of theAsia Pacific Student Services Association (APSSA*).
For this event, Stamford sent three representatives to jointheInternational Conference who were Mr.Philip Songkran Upton (President ofSSO)who has received a scholarship from the Commission on Higher Education,Ms.Oomjit Buangam (Vice President of SSO) and Ms. Suchanart Preecha(Secretaryof SSO) who were selected and supported by the STIU University.
The purpose of the event was for the student leaders to developleadershipskills throughout the country participating in the event with thechance toshare their ideas and attitudes about academic activities, futurecareers andinternational cultures. After our students returned to Stamford, Mr.Philipsaid that:
“My experience at the APSSA conference taught me more aboutdifferentAsia-Pacific cultures and the issues we, as student leaders, arefacing intoday’s world. We were able to share and exchange ideas, thoughts, andexperiencesfrom our own universities and cultures with people who might one daybecomeworld leaders.”
This was a fantastic achievement forStamford, and the conference broughtthe valuable experience to Stamfordstudents as they have learnt how to be agood representative of the university.Stamford would like to Thank Philip,Oomjit and Suchanart, for making the nameof Stamford even more well-known tothe public and the worldwide audience.
